Poems by Phyllis Oded

BACK TO SCHOOL THOUGHTS
by Phyllis Oded - 2008

School is
Confined places
Shoes with no laces
Seeing new faces
Hurrying at fast paces.

Itís no fun
Always being on the run
With homework never done
And missing the sun.

No more lazing
Too much grammar and phrasing
Slowly going crazy
Till everything is hazy.

And then the bell rings
Everybody sings
Homework stings
And the next day brings

MORE OF THE SAME
Whom can we blame?
School is no game
When I have to write down my name
On every paper and test
Never any rest.

I HATE SCHOOL!
signed with a sigh: the English teacher

BACK TO SCHOOL:

A STUDENT LAMENTS

Verbs, adjectives, synonyms, nouns;
countries, cities, neighborhoods, towns.
So much English acquisition
needed for every composition.
Capitalization, punctuation, vocabulary, too
and other things ... of which I havenít a clue!
Connectors, tenses, how can I remember them all?
I feel like hitting my head against a wall.
Teacher, teacher, leave me alone.
I miss the carefree summer; I want to go home.
